Yorkshire’s biggest B2B conference kicked-off in style yesterday at the Royal Armouries in Leeds. Now in its seventh year, Buy Yorkshire brings together thousands of business experts, professionals and leaders from across the UK to meet, share experiences, learn, network, build relationships and grow, under one stimulating business community roof.
We were delighted to exhibit this year – the exhibition hall has been buzzing and it’s been great to speak with such a diverse range of business professionals over this past two days.
Because we don’t do things by half…
As a creative agency focused on helping clients stand out online, we wanted to do something a bit different with our stand, something that showed what we’re about.
As well as running a free social media surgery and bookable appointments with one of our digital experts, we are also running a raffle (find and pop a jrc.agency balloon to win), free giveaways – and drinks on tap for thirsty delegates!
The Instaframe and live #BY17 #jrcBY feed also proved to be a popular talking point and helped people get involved in the conversations online.
Our incredibly busy first day at Buy Yorkshire 2017 began with an interview with Radio Leeds about Buy Yorkshire and the important role the annual two-day event plays in promoting Yorkshire as a great place to do business – both nationally and internationally.
Thank you to the business owners who booked in to sit with us and discuss how they could generate more business from their online campaigns. We’ve enjoyed sharing our experience and insights, and being challenged to come up with creative solutions to business issues.
Speaker highlights on day one
While exhibiting has been really enjoyable (and very busy this year), it has meant that we’ve unfortunately not managed to see as many speakers as we’d have liked.
We’d love to hear who you have enjoyed listening to? Do share your experiences in the comments box below.
One speaker we would have loved to see was Sara Riis-Carstensen, Global Director of Brand Development at the LEGO Group. Sara Riis-Carstensen is driving LEGO’s brand strategy and creative brand executive globally. Building LEGO’s brand strategy from scratch, Sara has been the face behind driving many successful brand campaigns around the world.
Another key speaker on day one was Ian Massingham, Chief Evangelist at Amazon. Ian joined the incredible line-up of speakers to talk about all things related to tech and his passion for connected devices and the Internet of Things. Ian also talked about what’s been hailed as “one of the most exciting corporate success stories in recent years”, how AWS has become Amazon’s most profitable business segment, generating $2.6 billion in revenue during the first quarter of 2016.
Who did you see at Buy Yorkshire and what did you learn?
This concludes our round-up of day one….
Watch out for our upcoming blogs:
- Review of the Think Yorkshire event (which followed Buy Yorkshire yesterday) with insights from the leaders of the region’s top agencies – we’ll post this later tonight
- Round-up of Buy Yorkshire day two – which we’ll be posting live tomorrow. This includes insights from the keynote by jrc.agency MD Jonny Ross on using digital to drive organisational growth and change.
